The motorhome dealership provides a shuttle to take us from the airport to the dealership in Alvarado, about an hour outside of Dallas. It was a very nice perk, since it meant we didn’t have to rent a car to get there. The shuttle was a really sweet Mercedes sprinter van and we met some nice folks on the ride.
We rolled in to the dealership and were ushered into their air conditioned welcome building (did I mention Texas is going through a heat wave with temps in the 100s?)
This is not a small dealership, this is like a motorhome compound. We were taken to our rig by our salesperson, Michael, in his truck. It took us a minute to get there, following roads with hundreds of 5th wheels, Class C motorhomes, Super C’s, Class A motorhomes lining the way. It was astounding how many vehicles they have for sale.
Finally, we reached our girl, and she was parked under a canopy, hooked up to the electricity, with her air conditioners running.
We were given a thorough introduction, outside and in, by one of the techs, Chris. He took us on a tour of every detail that made my brain explode. There were some minor issues that we noticed, which Chris took note of, and he had some other techs take care of those issues while we went shopping.
The dealership has an on-site RV store (of course they do) where we purchased things like the waste-snake and a water hose. The dealership also provided us a loaner car for the evening and we took it to the store for food items for the next few days. I thought that was really helpful.
Also helpful is that the dealershp has an on-site “campground” which is basically just a paved area with water/sewer/electricity hookups so you can spend the night and test out your RV’s functionality before you hit the road. This is such a big deal because we were able to identify a couple more minor issues we were too brain-fried to notice the day before. The techs came out the next morning to take a look at those issues and got us fixed right up.
Other than the oppressive Texas heat, our first 24 hours with Josey have been great!
